BJJ GI & BJJ GI NO GI
Jiu Jitsu literally means “gentle art”, a martial art that uses levers and the opponent’s own strength for self defense.
Originally from Japan, the art was exported by the Japanese to the whole world, but it was in Brazil, around 1920, that the Gracie Family made some adaptations that resulted in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
In the 90s, BJJ became known worldwide due to the creation of the UFC and even today, it is certainly a fighting style of great importance for Mix Martial Artists.
Judo for Kids
Judo, which means “gentle way” in Japanese, is a martial art created in Japan by Jigoro Kano in 1882. It was derived from the ancient techniques of jiu-jitsu.
It is the most widely-practiced martial art in the world, and the second-most practiced sport worldwide behind soccer. The combat sport develops self-discipline and lays its foundation on respect for one’s self and others. Judo joins taekwondo as the only Asian martial art sports included in the Olympic Games. Men’s judo debuted in the Olympics in 1964, and women’s judo followed in 1992.
Mixed martial arts (MMA)
Mixed martial arts (MMA), hybrid combat sport incorporating techniques from boxing, wrestling, judo, jujitsu, karate, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and other disciplines. Although it was initially decried by critics as a brutal blood sport without rules, MMA gradually shed its no-holds-barred image and emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing spectator sports in the early 21st century. MMA events are sanctioned in many countries and in all 50 U.S. states. And become famous to all around the world.
The concept of CrossFit came to prominence in 2000 and was a fantastic way to start the new millennia. When CrossFit was developed is had the objective of enhancing ten critical physical qualities; improving cardiovascular endurance, building stamina, increasing strength, flexibility and power while also improving speed, coordination, balance, agility and accuracy. It is a blend of several sporting disciplines such as gymnastics, weightlifting and High-Intensity Internal Training (HIIT).
CrossFit Siam Phuket offers two CrossFit classes per day, one in the morning and one in the evening. A key factor is that our classes are 90min long.
Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling-type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. The sport can either be genuinely competitive or sportive entertainment . Wrestling comes in different type such as folkstyle, freestyle, Greco-Roman, catch, submission, judo, sambo and others. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, between two competitors or sparring partners, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into other martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand combat systems.
